Proper of Time – Ferial English Propers

To request/commission a set of daily Mass propers in the style of Simple English Propers for you or your parish, contact me. Quick turn-around sometimes available at request. Practice mp3s also available on request.

This page is updated frequently. Check back often.

If you would like any of the following antiphons with verses, or if you would like an antiphon that is not yet completed, contact me.

If citations for verses are not provided, there are two options for verses: if an antiphon is from the book of psalms, you would sing additional verses from that psalm that using these tones (ideally using the Revised Grail Psalms). Otherwise, you would sing verses another appropriate psalm of your choice ad libitum.

The following listings and PDFs are computer generated, and this section is still in the testing phase. Those chants with listings for SEP page numbers are by Adam Bartlett, and those without are by Aristotle Esguerra and Ben Yanke. A few notes:

  • During the weekdays in the Easter season, the antiphons from the Octave of Easter are sung if an antiphon is not provided for a given day.
  • During the weekdays in Ordinary Time, the antiphons from the previous Sunday are sung if an antiphon is not provided for a given day.
Note that only the antiphons for the proper of time are available at this time. The proper of saints will be available in the future.

*The psalm numbering scheme is according to the vulgate numbering, not the more commonly used hebrew numbering.

So while the Sunday propers have a refrain and a number of verses, the weekdays are generally just one verse, correct?
